Southern States Fear Reduced Representation: MK Stalin Seeks Meeting with PM Modi

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has formally requested a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address concerns over the upcoming delimitation process, which many believe could reduce parliamentary representation for southern states.

This move comes just days after Stalin hosted a high-profile meeting with top Opposition leaders to strategize against the proposed seat redistribution.

In a letter dated March 27—made public today—Stalin emphasized that southern states, which have successfully controlled population growth, should not be penalized with fewer parliamentary seats. He has urged the Prime Minister to meet with him and MPs from various parties to discuss their "Memorandum on Delimitation," highlighting the potential imbalance this process could create in national representation.

With growing apprehensions in the south, this issue is set to become a major political flashpoint in the coming days.
